I think I prefer a more compromised design of a compact size, better performance is needed though these days, That is larger higher performing center wide open and smoother OOF areas. Teleconverter compatibility and a tripod collar is a fair compromise for the compactness of this lens.

I think you'll have max 4 stops instead of 7 with the EF version. It does not a always matter, but it's probably not the same shooting experience. This cheap 50mm F1. As the price drops on both of these in months it will be very cheap entry point for full frame, which the bricks and mortor stores can sell to "soccer moms". It looks like an air pumper. As RogerC says those kind of extending lenses are often not the worst ones for ingesting dust and some primes can be awful Where have you seen that price??

The 85f2, f4 with nice IS, Af and design, almighty 50f1. If they provide very good IQ they are canon lenses so I think they do they can be excellent choice even for pro photographers.
